Jacket CSS ignored by readers
I have figured this bit out myself: clearly I am a moron.
![]() Having established that, can someone please explain to abovementioned fool WHY every book reader** other than Calibre View completely ignores the CSS added by either Polish or Modify ePub, regardless of what is in the template and/or the CSS? To make sure it's not my custom templates to blame, I reverted to Calibre's jacket resources to no avail. ** I have tested with Nexus 7 Lollipop and my generic Chinese knock-off phone - using Mantano Reader in both cases - and ADE 3. I'm sure way back when I used to get matching results in Calibre and Mantano. This should probably be a separate question, but seeing I'm here... in pursuit of happiness I've overwritten my own templates etc. and now can't remember how to add swop LN/FN to the template. If nothing else, getting that back will make me happy. ![]() TIA for all wisdom |

Your devices software is at fault ,
and/or you overrode the standard (linked) files Each xHTML can have a different CSS Linked. Or multiple (Calibre standard is page.css, stylesheet.css) If you link in another AND the styles overlap, confusion reigns (the last defined style prevails) Multiple VALID Stylesheets work fine. RMSDK is noted for being prone to barking on the slightest error. It works (8 stylesheets via EPUB merge) FINE on RMSDK I Modify_EPUB most books. FINE on RMSDK I Polish on occasion. FINE on RMSDK I even use the Embed Metadata. FINE on RMSDK Validat you stylesheets with W3C |

Thanks, Ducks.
However, Modify-EPUB (which I use) and Polish (which I don't, generally) both insert the jacket CSS exactly as provided by Calibre on the jacket page, not as a separate CSS sheet. IOW there are no multiple CSS files, just bog standard Calibre as you noted. I put a few (jacket modified) books into ADE3 (PC version) and it does the same thing. I have also installed half a dozen different ereaders and they all ignore the CSS. That is, the resource jacket CSS which Modify Epub and Polish both embed. I haven't fiddled further. All the books I am using for my testing have been run through the Editor, any extant problems fixed. The only problem Editor finds is the inclusion of the webkit radius in the code, so I remove that. I don't know enough about html or CSS to know whether that has any bearing on anything. I don't have RMSDK but have requested a trial copy. Any other ideas? Anyone else encounter this problem? |

Thank you, I thought mantano had some problem with it, but now the jacket keeps the style.
