Dust getting under bezel?

Hey guys, I got a Kobo Aura H2O a couple of days ago and I love it. I cleaned it off the other day and some of the particles of the cloth or fibres (whatever you want to call them), got trapped under the edge of the device. Here's some photos: http://imgur.com/a/dr32r . Some people said I should've just washed it off since the device is water proof but I'm still hesitant on putting water on a brand new 200$ device

I was even foolish to grab a needle to try to poke around under there to get the things out. They're kind of trapped there and luckily I didn't damage my device, but it just bugs me because I see it there. Is this normal? Just curious because the device was advertised as dust proof... Otherwise I love the Kobo overall.

There is no "under the edge" on the H2O. The bezel is glued to the display. That's what makes it "waterproof" (whether you trust a bit of glue to hold back water is your own affair). If you poke holes with a needle , you've damaged your water seal and if you damage the bezel (the shiny part) you risk the loss of touch screen functionality.

I recently got a broken Kobo Touch from Ebay (lower third of the display still works) and it had a lot of "dustbunnies" sitting under the edges (Kobo Touch actually has an edge you can put your fingernail under, the H2O does not)... what I did was fold a piece of paper into a V shape and remove the dust in the corners with the point of the V.

Paper should be less likely to cause permanent damage than needles but you should still try a soft cloth first. Or just ignore it if it's only visible at 200x magnification and does not affect function.

Hey Frost, thanks for the advice. I realized my mistake after I did it, but the deed was done I took your advice and used some really thin flimsy paper that couldn't do much damage (aka typical white printer paper), and got the dust out of there. I tested the kobo by running water over it (very gentle trickle) and it seemed alright so maybe the needle didn't damage too much. Either way I'll keep it away from water just to stay safe. Thanks for your tips!
