Kindle Paperwhite problem uploading book

Running version 2.8 of Calibre on Win 8.1.

I was attempting to upload a couple of books to the Kindle and got a message the book needed to be converted first. The problem was that the book was already in Calibre in both epub and mobi. So, when I clicked OK nothing happened no attempted conversion.

I ended up manually transferring the book which opens fine on the Kindle.

Any ideas what might cause this. I was able to upload other books without a problem but this did happen with two books.

(driver) Settings!

The driver sets both the allowed formats, AND the preferred format when more than one are present.

Sounds like Mobi was not enabled for that device (driver).
AZW3 being a more preferred format for newer Kindles.

with the device connected, use the arrow on the device Icon: Configure device. Make (allowed )adjustments to taste

Thanks for the response. Will take a look at that but I did successfully upload another book with no issue. Moreover, I have used this Kindle with Calibre with no problem for the last couple of years.

Do you have a Plugboard set up for that K?
Conversion Needed, indicates that none of the allowed formats exist.

If you think you have the format, then something (a PI? A Plubgoard for a single format. DRM on the format.) may be blocking that format.
