Mantano Dictionary
I am using the Mantano premium app on my Nexus 7. The only problem I have is the dictionary function. I downloaded the English dictionary following the directions on the Mantano site but when I try to look up a definition it still tries to open the Google web site. I want to be able to look up a work when I don't have web access.

I use ColorDict personally but tried to install one of Mantano's dictionaries to see if I had any issues.
I can only suggest to try installing again. After clicking on settings from the library, then Dictionaries, selecting English and clicking the Download key/arrow. You should get these messages: Afterwards, selecting a book and shedding a word then clicking on the Dictionary Search option, you should see: Embedded - is the Mantano dictionary. If I remember correctly, it is best to use the ColorDict App with mantano. You can have multiple dictionaries in it.

I get a message that the dictionary is downloaded but don't get any option to select the dictionary; search goes to Google immediately. I downloaded and installed ColorDict from Google but it didn't make any difference. No option to select a dictionary, direct to Google web site. There must be a step I'm missing but I have no idea what. Last edited by GeckoFriend; 07-19-2015 at 05:05 PM. |

On taking a closer look I can also access the 'Dictionary search' pop-up by tapping a page to bring up Mantano's menu strip and selecting the Dictionary icon from there.

2. If yes to 1, is Colordict one of the items in the Dictionary drop-down menu? 3. If yes to 2, select it then type a word on the Search line and press the Search icon at the end of that line. Does it do the look-up in Colordict? 4. If yes to 3, Colordict should now be the default when you long-press a word in the book. ETA: Just thought of something else. If you've only just downloaded Colordict have you opened it (directly from Android not via Mantano) and made sure you've downloaded one or more of the Colordict dictionaries from within the app? If you have no joy with Colordict then my original instructions above should work equally well if you use 'Embedded:English' whereever I wrote 'Colordict'. 1. No - I do not get a dictionary search pop-up I have opened ColorDict and can access definitions directly from the dictionary. I think I'll try using Mantano support to see if they have a suggestion. Thanks everyone for trying to help! |

If the Dictionary menu item (NOT word long-press) is not bringing up the Dictionary pop-up that must be a seriously broken copy of Mantano.
What do you see when you select the Dictionary menu item. As you don't have any selected word at this point I don't see why Google would be launched? |

@GeckoFriend Out of curiosity, if you get a chance, using a file explorer app like ES Explorer, check in the directory for your Nexus 7 internal SD and see if there is a folder labeled "mreader". This is where the Mantano embedded dictionary is installed to.
I'm curious though as to what the issue is and hope you get a response from the support team. |

I've almost decided to forget about Mantano and use Moon+ for my reader app. I just figured out how to display series in Moon+ which was the only reason I liked Mantano better. |

The Mantano response team was helpful in that they did tell me how to change the default to ColorDict instead of Google but had no explanation as to why I don't get the same popup that should appear and that others see.
For now I'm sticking with Moon+Reader which I'm finding I like better than Mantano. |
