Gay America: The Road to Gay Marriage and LGBT Rights by The Associated Press is a lavishly photo-illustrated compilation of their news coverage on assorted LGBT civil rights and equality issues in the US over the past few decades, from AIDS activism and adoption and media representation and religious acceptance up to and including same-sex marriage and other current events (mostly titled towards the latter, for obvious reasons), free courtesy of publisher Mango Media's AP Editions imprint.

This is AP Books' current featured title, just in time for the last week of the US' official LGBT Pride Month (Library of Congress).

Currently free @ Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), Kobo & iTunes (neither available to Canadians), and might also be free in certain regions in other venues listed on the publisher's webcatalogue page. Normally these things also go free @ B&N (also UK), but the listing disappeared from their website at some point and now gives an error message. It'll probably be back up later.

This has a bunch of photographs and charts in it and clocks in ~35 megs, so you probably don't want to download it via 3G on your device if you've data plan limits.

And this has been the (late!) selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day.

Not only is it topical, but it's also heartwarming to see positive progress over the years towards more equal treatment both under the law and in society for our neighbours to the south. Keep up the good work, please!
