embed metadata option

I want to make sure I know what is happening to my files before I make any changes to them. There is an "Embed metadata" tool bar feature. Does it also update the cover image if that was changed in the "Edit metadata" window? Is using "Embed metadata" the same as only selecting "Update metadata in the book files" and "Update the cover in the book files" in the "Polish book" feature?

The difference between Embed Metadata and Polish books ==> Update Metadata/cover is:

Embed Metadata works on ALL filetypes, and embeds everything that the format supports... exactly like Send-to-device.
(Actually, Embed Metadata does not support plugboards.)
Polish books only works on EPUB/AZW3, the formats that support ALL the features of Polish books.

Also embed metadata can only update existing covers, it cannot insert a cover into a book that does not already have one. Polish can do the latter as well.
