Book reference challenge

How about a challenge... How many books can you read (or have you read) that reference another book, that references a book, that references a book, ... For example, I'm currently reading:

RoadRage by Stephen King, which references
She by H. Rider Haggard (I'm not expecting any book references in this one)

And let's be strict in the challenge; a book must be referenced by title.

Fiction only. The book must be referenced in "story" (not the introduction, or forward, or end notes, ...)

Do you also require it to be different authors, or can they be the same?

I can't remember them all but Jo Walton's Among Others has a bunch so it might be a good starting point for this challenge.

If you left off the referenced by title, Silverlock is the ultimate. Brian Daily's "A Tapestry of Magics" makes a few references, as does Glory Road.

Same or different, doesn't matter to me.

I'm not hard set on rules. I was thinking of World cross references, like the Dark Tower referencing Harry Potter, but than I was afraid of getting a lot of Star Trek, or Star Wars, or ... (not that there is anything wrong with those worlds.)

A Confederacy of Dunces...references Heart of Darkness...(or "Har of Darkness" as one character mis-hears it in conversation, not knowing it's a book...thinking instead it's a sea-fog maybe...)

"The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry". I haven't done a title count; many titles mentioned - the title character operates a bookstore

That sounds like a student bringing up books read for school.

Yes and no. Some times it is assigned reading. Sometimes it is other reasons (gifts given or received).
