				Paperwhite 2 or 6th generation?

I'm about to buy Paperwhite 2 or 6th gen (I believe it's the latest model so far) from an individual seller but would like to be sure if it's the latest paperwhite which sold on amazon. Could someone confirm with the attached photo?

			If the serial number starts with... B024, B01B. B020, B01C, B01D or B01F it is an original Paperwhite B0D4, 90D4, B05A, 905A, B0D5, 90D5, B0D6, 90D6, B0D7, 90D7, B0D8, 90D8, B0F2, 90F2, B017, 9017, B060, 9060, B062, 9062, B05F or 905F it is a Paperwhite 2 (the current model) |

There's a much easier way to tell: look at the big logo on the back of the device. If it says "Kindle", the device is a PW1; if it says "Amazon" it's a PW2.

You can also look at the indication of storage: 2Gb, PW1; 4 Gb, PW2.

Not necessarily--for quite a while the PW2s came with only 2gb of storage. I know this for a fact--I have a PW2 that I purchased shortly after they were released. It has 2gb. It's only been in the last six or seven months that PW2s started coming with 4gb.

Thanks a lot for the answers, I was just curious about the '6th gen' phrase back of the box, never heard that Paperwhite 2 mentioned as 6th gen..

I think the Paperwhite 2 is the 2nd generation Paperwhite and the 7th generation Kindle. Barry |

PW2 has a better resolution screen. That alone should be worth considering. 800x600 is too 2009... From the attached photo it says that it comes with 4 GB, which means that it's definitely a PW2. |

The new 'Touch' is now just the basic Kindle that retails at $79 in the US. They added a touch screen to the basic Kindle when they re-released it in late 2014 and there are now no longer any non-touch screen Kindle's. Josieb1 is right with the numbers (I think! ), but thinking of them as generations or model numbers just gets slightly confusing.... |

Sorry about the confusion I never know what to call the latest 'basic' non lighted Kindle.
