The ebook is *HOW MUCH*?!
Have they gone completely insane? The new Larry Bond technothriller is $35.57 at Amazon. Almost twice the price of the hardcover!

I don't mind a price that matches the cheapest paper edition, so roughly HC price for a new book, but this makes no sense at all...

It's probably because you're in the Netherlands? I am offered $16.96 here in Austria. Might well be a glitch, though, taxes can't account for that much.

Frankly $14.99 is also grossly overpriced by $6 in my eyes. There are SO MANY good authors I can read for $5 or less, I just don't have time for over priced stuff like this.

It's probably a glitch, if it shows as 14.99 for others and 16.96 for you. Those are the prices I expected (slightly lower than hardcover).

Or the same glitch (to put a positive spin on it ). I didn't think to look at amazon.nl, as I haven't migrated my account (I would lose my subscription to Analog magazine if I did).

I'd suggest contacting Amazon about it. The prices are entered by human beings, and mistakes can and do happen. I had a similar issue a couple of years ago when I bought an ebook edition of Robert Fagles' translation of "The Odyssey". It was listed at some ridiculous price, so I contacted Amazon and said that I thought that there was an error with the price. They said they'd pass my comment on to the publisher, and a few days later the price fell dramatically.

If the price has been set by the publisher, you'd expect all the bookstores to be affected by it. Perhaps it's not affecting B&N because they don't operate in the "Euro" marketplace? The book doesn't appear to be available at Amazon UK at all.

The high price looks like an error.

No, sound business. There will always be people who are willing to pay more to read a book when it's initially published. Wait for the paperback release and the ebook price will fall dramatically. Baen have done the same for years with their "Advance Reader Copy" (ARC) ebook releases.
