Image on last page of AZW3

Something I have just noticed today which has perplexed me:

When viewing an .AZW3 book in Calibre's ebook viewer the final page sometimes shows a blue square indicating that an image is missing. But there is no image missing.

My preferences are that the cover only shows at the front of the book and this is always shown. I don't understand why this blue square appears at the back of the book and I think it is related to the front cover (titlepage.xhtml).

When I right-click and inspect it there is one error:
Failed to load resource: Error opening C:/Users/sylvia/AppData/Local/Temp/calibre_bzn2yt/dtlx4k_ebook_iter/Images/cover.jpeg: No such file or directory

It only appears in Calibre's ebook viewer. It does not show at the end of Kindle for PC viewer.

There is an actual page with a reference to the missing image in that file. Kindle Previewer simply renders it as a blank page, in the calibre viewer you get the blue missing image icon. Open the azw3 file in the calibre editor and delete last html file and you will be fine.

In the future, if you need to submit copyrighted books as part of a bugreport, do so here: http://calibre-ebook.com/bugs

Using the official bugtracker allows you to mark a bugreport as private, which means only the development team and the bug reporter can see the issue... so no copyright infringement is done.

You would be right about that.

But then, I have not, so far, had to report a bug. Kovid seems to get it right most of the time.

Thank you Kovid, this did the trick. As always, you know your stuff.

I can understand that I (unintentionally) broke a forum rule. What I can't understand is the overzealousness of the moderator who banned me for a first time offence. A warning would have been sufficient and the offending item removed.
