Free (nook/Kindle/iTunes/DRM-free) The Prince [AU British Monarchy/Commoner Romance]
The Prince by Australian author S. A. Gordon is the 1st in their Young Royals series of f/m contemporary romances featuring a completely fictional alternate version of the current British Monarchy (which incidentally in this AU has ditched male primogeniture and maybe they're even allowed to marry Catholics) but which otherwise seems non-sfnal, this installment centred around the spare to the throne who finds himself falling for an American commoner in Manhattan, free courtesy of publisher Pan Macmillan Australia's Momentum imprint.
This is a supplementary featured freebie in the iTunes Australia store, and is apparently being made free to promote the upcoming next-in-series novel (and probably also to get a boost from the royal baby-watching hype). Currently free @ B&N (also UK), Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians and DRM-free at Kobo), and should also be free directly from the publisher's webstore (probably the right link, DRM-free ePub/Mobi bundle available worldwide) whenever their site finally comes back up again. And this has been the (late!) selected 3rd (non-repeat) free ebook thread of the day. A bit by default, but we did just get a new addition to the Canadian royal family (trufax: among Queen Elizabeth II's official titles should be "Dominatrix of Canada", stemming back from the days when one of the Jameses styled himself "Dominator") whom I'm sort of vaguely fond of for their entertainment value and considering the fact that if we got rid of them, we'd still end up having to have separate ceremonial heads of state and working heads of government (because IMHO it's a bad idea to combine the two positions into one person since historically that rarely seemed to lead anywhere good) and probably end up with a money-costing "solution" like the separate Prime Minister and President positions that a lot of countries have, with the associated ongoing security costs (ahahaha… we spend so much money on Harper's ego and paranoia; say what you will about Jean Chrétien, but at least he and his wife provided their own) and retirement pensions (ahahaha… we spend so much money on Harper's underqualified and ineligible-expense-claiming appointments to the Senate) for whatever succession of individuals end up taking the position, and at least our current Commonwealth monarchy consists of a relatively small pool of people who mostly stay in the same places and are probably cheaper and easier to co-ordinate for in the long run, so we might as well keep using what we already have. Anyway, ![]() Enjoy! Description Caitlin is an ordinary American girl, living a life she hopes will one day be extraordinary. Little does she know that she's about to meet the most extraordinary person of all ... Prince David is enjoying his years of freedom while his father, King James, reigns and his older sister, Alexandra, performs her duties as heir to the throne. Temporarily relocated to Manhattan, David spends his time dating a succession of attractive young women, none of whom are suitable to be his wife. But soon the day will come when the Prince has to settle on a purpose, and find a woman who can help him fulfil it. David has no idea where he'll find her—he only knows that he must. When Caitlin and David meet by chance, their attraction to each other is obvious. But royal life is not as glamorous as it seems, and Caitlin will have to decide what she values more: her love or control over her own destiny. The Prince may lose his princess before he even knows he has her ... |
