Additional metadata fields for bibtex

Hello,

I love calibre and use it to organize all of my pdfs. Thank you so much for the development of this great program.

I wanted to know if is possible to request either a plugin or new feature that allows the ability to enter in metadata fields that are used in bibtex. I would not need to have them included as columns, but simply in the pdf itself. That way, when I export my catalogue, I can select additional fields in the export menu that bibtex can recognize and I would not need to individually edit entries to complete my bib

While bibtex fields can be made through custom column entry, exporting the catalogue results in the new fields to be identified as "custom_X". To allow for jabref/bibtex to recognize such data, I have to manually remove the "custom_" part.

A plugin that could allow for complete bibtex metadata entry would be great. It would make it much easier for me to use calibre as an academic pdf manager.

Thanks again!

Generally speaking, one cannot do that, since you could, for example have a custom column named #title, if one did not prefix it with custom_ then you would end up with two title entries in the bibtex catalog.

What would be needed is for the bibtex catalog to accept a setting that maps custom column names to bibtex field names. However, since the person that developed the bibtex catalog plugin is no longer active, I doubt that would get implemented unless you did it yourself.
