does the front light flicker?

Is PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) used for dimming the led's in Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Voyage ? If so, then the front light flickers. How does this flickering impact reading for long periods? Eyes get tired quicker because of frontlight flicker ?

I seem to remember some teardown review that said that it was NOT PWM, but I don't have a source, and I could be remembering it exactly backwards. :-)

That said, I don't notice the flicker, but if it were subtle it could still cause discomfort even if undetectable.
