Sync epub Calibre to Companion

Well i am enjoying more and more the features of this double pack.

So, i see that when metadatas of a book in Calibre has changed those will be updated in CC the next time they connect. It seams they are not stored in the epub (on CC) itself but somewhere else, right?
Is it possible that when metadatas are changed on Calibre the epub itself gets updated (send again to CC) on CC with obvious the new metadatas?

Thanks

There is an option somewhere in CC's settings to do resync changed books, I believe. Dunno exactly where -- I do my reading on my KT so I don't use chaley's app.

Metadata is stored in CC's database. That is all that CC looks at.
Changing the ebook itself is unnecessary unless you want the reader app to see the changes. But you should be doing any library searching from CC.
I don't know if the resync option is for edited books only or even metadata changes.

It seems to me that when updates are made in Calibre (once you have activated the 'Sync book files' option in CC), both the updated books and/or metadatas will be pushed to the android device. Of course, you connect it as "Wireless Device/sync books". This is a great feature.

Regarding CC-to-Calibre sync, I only allowed "Read and Read Date" features.

Simply updating the metadata in calibre does not update the actual book on its own. Consequently there are no newly updated books to sync to CC, only metadata.

The OP would have to update the metadata in calibre and use the Polish feature to update the book for the CC sync book feature to update the book on the device.

yes you are right, simply updating the metadata will not affect the book file itself, so no file sync.
Where is this "polish Feature"? or do you mean delete and re upload the book to CC'

@Thomas_AR - Polish Books is a Calibre feature, I don't think CC has (needs) one.

In calibre, select book(s) and press 'p'. Or use Preferences->Toolbars to add to Polish Books to relevant menus and button bars. The options are pretty much self-explanatory, more detail in the tooltips.

Polish only works on EPUB/AZW3 and can do extras like font embed/subsetting.

Another option is Embed Metadata which only affects metadata (no kidding ) but works on all formats just like send-to-* functions.

Do I Have This Right

So if I want Calibre to automatically update any changes to an ePub in it with Calibre Companion, I have to click on the Polish icon in the toolbar?

Basically, I am looking to do what has already been suggested. Update the books on my eReader via Calibre Companion through the wireless connection to Calibre.

I often modify an ePub in Sigil and then have to delete the ePub in Calibre Companion, then re-send it. A bit time consuming. Be nice to just re-sync and Calibre and Calibre Companion work out the differences and replace the old with the newly modified.

In CC settings there is an option to Sync Newer Book Files. Check that box. It will add a line to the connect menu that will let you choose to connect and update newer books.

You can also use the Reading List plug in to send the books next time you do a wireless sync.
