Android epub app (internal links don't work)
I created an epub app using one of the many app creators software available. (appmakerstudio.com). It was a sigil created epub file that passed the epub check and validated fine. All the links work before I copied it to android. (Android 4.4.2)
When I initially create the epub app, it creates a zip file with lots of folders after uncompressing it. The qestion is , do I copy all of these folders to the android or only the apk file? If I am to copy all of the folders, do I copy the zip file and then open it on the android? So far I have just copied the apk file and I installed the app successfully. I can open the epub file fine on the android. I can scroll and read the ebook. But when I click on any of the internal epub links in the table of contents, it does not take me to the internal chapter in the book. Instead I get an error message saying "webpage not available". This doesn't make any sense because these are all internal ebook links in the epub file! I am thinking this is maybe because I only copied the apk file and not all the other folders to the android |

I don't know this appmaker, but the only way I can think of how it makes an app out of an epub is by making it a webapp and simply treat it as html.
Why would you do this? Just use one of the many epub readers for android. Unless you make an app which includes a reader, the result would be not good. |

Yes, I made an app which includes a reader in it. But my problem is that the internal links are not working and I cannot figure out why. |

Either the "reader" is crap or it just makes a website out of your epub but does not understand the epub-toc file. You could try to insert a html toc in the epub and use that. But frankly I don't understand why you make a crappy app out of the epub. Just sell the epub, if that is what you want. Nobody who looks for a book does that through an appstore. And if your app is than not even half as good as any ereader app out there, why should someone want that?
And if it is just an ordinary epub, there is no reason to make an app out of it. I would understand that, if you made a html book with javascript that is not possible as an epub (like interactive fiction that tracks decisions). |
