I REALLY Rescued A Goat To Save Chinese New Year by long-time Singapore-resident British expat humour columnist Neil Humphreys (Wikipedia) with illustrations by Cheng Puay Koon, is a festive 4th installment in their Abbie Rose & the Magic Suitcase series of illustrated storybooks for readers aged 3-8 starring the eponymous intrepid girl and her means of adventure (which I'm kind of vaguely disappointed doesn't act more like the Luggage on the Discworld), this one based on Chinese folklore, free courtesy of NJH Publishing.

This is a front-page top-banner featured supplementary freebie in most of the iTunes stores that I spot-checked, and is offered in an enhanced edition with a few animation effects and Read Aloud audio narration, as well as being a multilingual freebie in Chinese translation, all of which seem to be exclusive to iTunes thus far, although the earlier books are available in the other standard stores.

While these are not Made for iBooks titles per se, they will require a certain level of compatible app/device to read with all the multimedia features, please see the details on the product pages.

Currently free @ iTunes (available to Canadians & many places worldwide when I spot-check) for the English version, and also in Traditional Chinese & Simplified Chinese, which apparently come with Mandarin audio (I can't check this, since the audio function seems to require an iDevice proper and not just iBooks for Mac).

Incidentally, if it turns out you/any kiddies you introduce this to like this one and would like to try more, several of the other books in the series are currently tie-in sale-discounted for just $1.99/£0.99 each in the iTunes store, and the series looks to be couponable @ Kobo as well.

Because as I keep telling you, I have this inordinate fondness for cultures that produce dragon boats, and not only is this a tale based on such which looks like a nifty introduction to cross-cultural pollination for the kiddies, it's also available in extra languages for one to practice one's language learning skills with.

Even if the Magic Suitcase is insufficiently Luggage-like and does not seem to eat sharks or store coconuts or spread terror, havoc, and destruction everywhere it's seen the second-time around by traumatized previous encounterees of the wizardly persuasion.
