Looking for a reader with translation function

Hi,

I am learning a new language and I would love to have a reader that can translate some words for me. Is there such a thing? I'm not looking for anything else in particular (touchscreen unnecessary, wifi neither if I can do without it). Until recently, I have been using only the old PRS505 and I was happy with the devivce (which unfortunately broke after years of service).

Kindles have a translate function. I think it uses Bing. Of course, you need to be connected to the Internet to use that feature. If you didn't have wifi, you would need 3G. How else are you going to get a translate function? Of course, Kindles also have foreign language dictionaries, which do not require the Internet.

Depending on the language you are looking for Kobo has built in translation dictionaries (i.e. French to English) that work the same way as for looking up a definition for any other word (press and hold). They do only work on individual words (you can't translate a whole phrase or sentence at a time). No internet connection for using it, but you will need one to install it originally.

The Kindle Translation feature does indeed use Bing. Note that it does work over Amazon's freely-provided 3G, assuming you got a 3G Kindle.

(There is also an ACX you can install on a jailbroken Kindle which adds a Google Translate alternative. No 3G obviously. )
