Question downloading eBook from library

Hi, I have a Sony PRS-T2 which until it was taken over by KOBO, allowed me to log In to my local library and dowload borroed ebooks directly (not having to use a computer), and return the book when finished. Since the changeover to KOBO, I can log into the general part of the llibrary, but not into my ebook account, and cannot download any ebook. I have to use the computer. Neither Sony, KOBO or the library have an explanation. I have reset the ebook to factory settings twice, without fixing the problem.
I have 2 questions:
1. Has anyone else had the problem, and if so can it be fixed?
2. Is there another eReader on the market which has these Sony features?

Easy Fix!

Assuming that you didn't have a crappy Adobe problem like I did (different Adobe IDs between the library & the tablet), are you using an ereader app that has an Adobe ID capability for DRM? e.g. Aldiko, Mantano.......

Don't know if the KOBO device has an Adobe DRM ID setting for the device like the Nook. The library books need the Adobe DRM ID for getting any book & think it can only be used for the ereader it is set for & cannot be used for any other ereader (tried that already).

I don't see anything on a quick scan of the Sony section of the forum, but you might find something there.

Not really.

The PRS T-2 isn't a tablet, it's an eInk reader that has/had the ability to borrow library books (through OverDrive) right from the device.

Please read the question again. My interpretation is that the Sony is an "EX" in that it wasn't being used; the KOBO is now the device in question of accessing the library.

The post being moved should be moved to where ever the KOBO section & NOT the Sony.

But then I don't know if the KOBO device is an e-ink or tablet since it wasn't mentioned. The KOBO is the device that the OP wants to use to access the library for books & have read some postings about using "side-loaded" reading apps, I think.

OP needs to weigh in because I read it as it worked until Kobo took over the Sony bookstore side of things, but I'm confused as to what exactly they are having an issue with (i.e. they can't download books from the library at all or just they can no longer do so on their device).
If the OP does indeed have a Kobo now, none of the Kobo e-readers can DIRECTLY download ADE protected books -- you must go through ADE on a computer and use that to load it onto the reader.

I read OP has a Sony PRS-T2. Since Kobo took over Sony's customers and the device was updated it no longer works the way it did for library books.

I also had downloaded books from the library before updating the latest firmware to include direct access to the Kobo Bookstore on the homepage of my PRS T-1. Today I was able to download a book from my local public library after some initial difficulty. My library webpages are a bit hard to navigate and it took some effort to complete the process from log in >add to cart > checkout > and download. Try again and be sure when at your library website to see if you are missing any of the steps you need to checkout a book.

Well then my friend your interpretation would be wrong. The OP's Sony device is the device he/she has. NOT a Kobo. Kobo has taken over the software on the Sony device which the OP used to be able to use to directly borrow library books from. A T2 is a Sony device not a Kobo. If you don't know enough about either Sony or Kobo to answer the question to be of assistance, then perhaps you should simply make use of the back button and not wade into the discussion.

OP, check to make sure you have the latest firmware on your Sony PRS-T2. I have the T1 and T3 both with the latest firmware and both are able to access and borrow books from the library directly. There were issues earlier about getting the library books on the software on the PC but that has been fixed. Good luck!

No, my ereader is a sony T2. KOBO took over Sony ereaders last year. Since then I have been unable to download books directly to the reader (which I used to be able to do). This problem is unique to the reader. I can still login into the library and download books onto my computer. However when travelling I do not always have the computer with m e and transferring books from the computer to the reader is a painfully slow excercise.

I had this problem with a T2, a simple fix is to change the authorize for Adobe DRM on the reader itself, go to settings/Initialization/Deauthorize for Adobe DRM. Then Authorize the reader again using a new Adobe ID and Password, this link should help
https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answer...t-or-the-adobe

Should download to the reader fine after this !
