				Calibre and SQL DB

Hello, I am new with the extensive use of Calibre. But after having thousands of books I decided to manage this amount with Calibre. All books are on my Network Attached Storage (NAS) which is a Synology 214+ one. Adding books and building the metadata.db by Calibre went well. The metadata.db is stored on the NAS as well. Anyway Calibre is a bit slow when it comes to selecting or searching titles of such amount. Is Calibre able to store all this data in a SQL database instead in the metadata.db? SQL db which is installed with the Synology NAS is MariaDB - an advanced MySQL DB. Is it possible to connect Calibre to the MariaDB on the NAS? If yes - is there a description how to do this? I am not a DB expert, but could do a step by step installation / migration. Thank you for helping me doing this. Thank you Kovid for this wonderful tool!! Greetings testor |

DaltonST And you ought to be aware of this ==>> I am getting errors with my calibre library on a networked drive/NAS? Calibre is not designed to run in a networked environment. The fact that you have it working today, is not a guarantee it will continue to work into the future. BR | |

Thanks for the hint. No, I didn't know about this limitations. So far Calibre and the metadata.db runs fine in my network environment. Only one PC has access to the DB. I will read more about the Calibre Content Server. Anyway a network solution for Calibre would be perfect. |
