I have been sideloading my Amazon books since the beginning of time. Well, perhaps only since 2009
![]() As I have never had any previous problem with this process, can someone offer a reason why this could be occurring? I have tried reconverting from epub as well as converting azw3 => azw3 just for grins. I am absolutely stumped and am terribly frustrated at not being able to solve my problem. ![]() ![]() ![]() I would be forever grateful for any solution. Thank you! |

Thanks, I'll give that a try. However, I have successfully sideloaded a second book in the series under the exact same circumstances, converting mobi (azw) => azw3. I failed to mention in my original post that I had previously downloaded a sample of the book and subsequently deleted it while ensuring no orphaned files or sidecars were left behind.

Thank you, pidgeon92, I missed those and will read them. Clearly, my searching skills are lacking. ;-)

Thanks, pidgeon92, for mentioning my link.
![]() Yes, my problem was solved due to the help of numerous members. Try that solution (if other solutions fail), and let us know if things are fine. |

The Kindle will not display a line fully justified if doing so would result in an excessive amount of padding needing to be inserted into the line. That's the way it's always behaved.

Thank you, Harry. I am a self-taught novice when it comes to editing styleheets and owe what little I do know to the very helpful members here on MR. This is the first time I have seen this problem after I have edited the text-align entries in the stylesheet. Is there an additional edit I should make to eliminate the few ragged lines on each page?

No, as HarryT said there is nothing you can do. The Kindle is deliberately ignoring the instruction to justify, since it has decided you would rather not have the words stretched out -- and to convince it otherwise would require patching the Kindle framework.

I am somewhat confused. What you and HarryT have explained is clear but what I do not understand is why this is the only occurrence of the anomaly when I have converted (with justification) hundreds of books over the years without this result. What makes this book different from all the others?

Generally I see this on the odd occasion that an extra-long word just barely cannot fit on the preceding line, leading to a longer-than-normal gap at the end of the previous line.
It isn't terribly common for this to happen, at least in my experience. |

It is odd that all other books have handled justification just fine, with no ragged lines whatsover, but this one has three to four incomplete lines on every page. Is it possible to edit an epub version somehow prior to reconverting to mobi to prevent this?

If you can figure out something, I am sure a lot of people will appreciate the new knowledge.
