Calibre won't start if a device isn't plugged in
Whenever I open Calibre with my device plugged in, it works fine. Otherwise, it won't start. I see a blank window with "Not Responding" in the title.
I'm using Windows 7 64-bit, Calibre 2.19.0. Last edited by desker; 02-09-2015 at 04:34 AM. |

2) are you using 'Connect to folder'? Did you 'eject' (right-click menu on the folder device) it before shutting down? |

In debug mode it started fine. I tried it again without debug mode, and again it didn't work.
Here's the output: D:\Programs\Calibre2>calibre-debug -g calibre 2.19 isfrozen: True is64bit: False Windows-7-6.1.7601-SP1 Windows ('32bit', 'WindowsPE') 32bit process running on 64bit windows ('Windows', '7', '6.1.7601') Python 2.7.9 Windows: ('7', '6.1.7601', 'SP1', 'Multiprocessor Free') Starting up... Started up in 2.88 seconds with 17 books |

Problem solved.
I just noticed from the debug output that I installed the 32-bit version. I uninstalled it and installed the 64-bit version, and now it's working. I'm still curious what the problem was. Is there a setting that makes it search for a device when it starts? |
