The Same Love: A Devotion by musician Paul Baloche (Wikipedia) is a behind-the-scenes for his eponymous 12th album, combining making-of anecdotes and spiritual insights recounting the inspiration for and meaning of the biblically-referential lyrics, free courtesy of Christian publisher David C. Cook.
This is actually pretty nifty, if a bit short and more inclined to faith reflections than music-making, and an interesting look into the creative process which even secular Gentle Readers who like behind-the-scenes artistic stuff the way I do might want to have a look at. Currently free, probably just for the next couple of days @ B&N (also UK), Amazon (available to Canadians and in the UK), iTunes & Google Play (both available to Canadians), and also ChristianBook (DRM-Free ePub available to selected countries), can be added to your library @ BookShout (online reading & in-app download) and may also be free at other venues listed on the publisher's catalogue page (ebook) & (album) (contains a video of one of the songs, as well as a time-limited bonus mp3 download for the title track, if you're curious as to what the music actually sounds like). If it turns out you really like this one, a number of retailers offer an "enhanced" multimedia edition (the iTunes version says it's got 11 songs and 4 videos). Description The same love is calling us all by name. In the spring of 2011 acclaimed worship artist and songwriter Paul Baloche released his twelfth album – The Same Love. Each new song was birthed from a genuine inspired moment, an experience Paul describes as an “other than” place. It was out of this place that he created lyrics and melodies designed to achieve his ongoing goal of building a legacy of graciousness. But there we also moments in between the songs where Paul felt there was more to be said. This book is that collection of moments, a progression of thoughts and prayers different from the lyrics but the same as the songs. This is not a devotional, or a book that describes something. This is a devotion, a book that is something. Last edited by ATDrake; 02-05-2015 at 04:14 PM. Reason: Separate catalogue pages for ebook & album. |
