Hello All,
I just finished reading some books and I'm having a hard time finding something similar. Could I get some recommendations? To be honest, I've never been interested in books. However my wife recommended I start doing something to pass the time by while working and I started reading the Hunger games books. Afterwords, I couldn't stop. In the last 2-3 months I've read and enjoyed the following books. Suzanne Collins (Author) Thanks! The Hunger Games (2008) Catching Fire (2009) Mockingjay (2010) Trudi Canavan (Author) The Magicians' Guild (2001) The Novice (2002) The High Lord (2003) The Ambassador's Mission (May 2010) The Rogue (May 2011) The Traitor Queen (Aug 2012) Priestess of the White (2005) Last of the Wilds (2006) Voice of the Gods (2006) James Dashner (Author) The Maze Runner (2009) The Scorch Trials (2010) The Death Cure (2011) The Kill Order (2012) Jonathan Stroud (Author) The Amulet of Samarkand (2003) The Golem's Eye (2004) Ptolemy's Gate (2005) Marie Lu (Author) The Young Elites *Titles were copied/pasted from WIKI. |

You should give Harry Potter a go since you like young adult books and fantasy. It doesnt get much better than that.

I appreciate the reply. I tried to read the Harry Potter books, but I couldn't get past the first couple of chapters. For some reason, I just couldn't get interested.

Perhaps you'd like the Divergent series by Veronica Roth.

Hmm, I will visit my local book store and see if I like the first couple of chapters. In the meantime, do you know of any good magical books?

Perhaps the Xanth books by Piers Anthony might interest you. Not everyone likes his work but he tells interesting tales. Also Christopher Stasheff's wizard books or Diane Duane's young wizard books might interest you. Susan Cooper has a 5 book series "The Dark is Rising" based in Arthurian mythology.

I second AnemicOak. The Divergent series would be a good series to read after the hunger games. It's a good follow up, especially for post-apocalyptic books. (For my personal preference, I'm leaning more on Hunger games though)

Oh! And by the way Ziverion, I recommend "The Thief" series by Megan Whalen Turner (Queen's Thief Series). It's one of my all time favorite series. I recommended it to my father, and even if we usually have different tastes on books, for once we agreed. It's great.

Awesome! Thanks for the suggestions. I normally "read" books via Audiobook. I'll be looking at each one of these and update here once I decide. Again, I really do appreciate it.

I've read and loved Canavan and Collins, so I'll check out those others you mentioned.
I second Megan Whalen Turner's "The Thief". Another one is Lois McMaster Bjuold's Curse of Chalion. |

Seeing as you usually read via audible I would suggest some good audiobooks that may be suitable Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch, The Martian by Andy Weir, Hounded by Kevin Hearne these are all very entertaining listens which make them an easy read.

Merrie Haskell - The Princess Curse
Robert Aspirin - Another Fine Myth Timothy Zahn - The Thrawn Trilogy Anne McCaffrey - Dragonsong / Dragonsinger / Dragondrums Robin McKinley - The Blue Sword You might also try Brandon Sanderson's Reckoners series. (Careful, though! The third book's not out yet.) |

You all are awesome! I've purchased the Divergent audiobook. Once I get done with these books, I think I'm going to try Brandon Sanderson's Reckoners series.
Thanks again! |
