Any method to keep book series sorted/grouped when transferred to device?
In Calibre, I would organize my book series by updating the Title, Author, and Series (with book number) fields. But when the book is transferred to the Kindle, everything is sorted by title, which means the books in each series are no longer grouped together or sorted in order.
I could simply prefix the series name and book number to the title, but is there a cleaner way to do this? Perhaps is there a method, at the time of syncing to the device, to automatically change the transferred book title to something like: <Series><Book #><Title>? Or I guess I could create a new column called 'Real Title' and perhaps modify the existing Title column to be <Series><Book #><Real Title>? Also, there is no zero padding option for the book number, so will the <Series><Book #><Title> convention even sort correctly? For example, it could be like this:
I guess another possibility is to user the Author field to be the Series Name/Book Number since the kindle only has sort options for Title or Author. But it seems so wrong. Too bad there are not more sort fields on the Kindle. |

Awesome stuff. ![]() The templates support python formatters, so you can put leading zeroes in the series_index. Also see: Plugboard, template, and custom composite column recipes Last edited by eschwartz; 02-02-2015 at 11:19 AM. |

@babdob001 -- eschwartz also pointed me towards the "Power Of Plugboards"
Really useful. The Calibre User Manual has a nice write up http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/template_lang.html |

@eschwartz; @phossler: Thank you so much. Everything I needed is there. Time to organize! (queue Five Years Later narration)
