Run Generate Cover if "send to device"
Hi,
I´d like to auto-run generate cover if I convert respectively send to device. Normally I download stories with fanfictiondownloader (with the cover from the author if availabe) as an epub. With "send to device" calibre converts the epub to mobi. If I want to have a glance on the description I have to open the book and view the first page on my device. But in this case the ebook is marked as "read" on my device and furthermore the order of my ebooks is changed. Now as a temporary solution I generated a custom cover with only the description to see as cover in my kindle menu But with this I have to run "generate cover" manually for each book and the original cover in calibre is overwritten. Now I´d like to keep the original cover in my library (in the epub) and use my custom cover only in the mobi-file if I send it to my device. I was looking for a possibility to run "generate cover" automatically if I convert my epub in mobi or if I send it to the device but unfortunately I have found nothing. Or maybe combine it with my reading list "send automatic to device if connected". Thanks for your help! ILB |

The FanFictionDownloader plugin has an option to integrate with the Generate Cover plugin. Why not just use that?

Because I´d like to keep the Originalcover for the Book in calibre
and use my custom cover only for the book I load on my kindle and only in the mobi-version. |

Well, it seems options are a bit thin on the ground for using multiple covers per book
![]() That being the case, the best suggestion I can offer is to use the FFDL integration. Perhaps after downloading the book with a custom cover, you can manually do a bulk download of covers (although I don't see FanFiction on the list of metadata sources, Google Images *might* provide something) and set the cover image in calibre. It will not be updated in the MOBI, because MOBI doesn't support cover metadata properly. |
