Book Size refresh
Hi all,
Done a search but can't seem to find how to refresh the size of existing books in Calibre. I've got several PDF's that were quite large in the library - IE 930Mb. I run the actual PDF file through a tool I bought that reduced the size - IE to 210Mb Now, as I just overwrote the original (large) file with the new (smaller) file the size appears the same in Calibre. Removing from the library and re-adding works as expected with the correct file size, but rather than do this is there a way to force Calibre to refresh the entire file data at all? Not a huge problem, but it's been bugging me for a while and I can't work out to do it so hopefully someone has an idea ![]() TIA! |

The Quality Check plugin has an option to update the ebook file sizes in calibre.
If you don't want a plugin, another option might be to delete the PDF format only from the calibre record, leaving the metadata intact, then add the smaller PDF file back in. I would expect calibre to refresh it's file size here. The easiest way to do that is using the detail panel on the right edge of the calibre window: right click on the PDF there, and choose the option to delete that format from calibre. Then, from your file browser, drag the updated PDF into the detail panel to add the new PDF format back in. |

Hi Section8,
I've got the Quality Check plugin but it doesn't update (or correct) the file sizes ![]() The other option you provided worked like a dream though! ![]() It's a bit of a pain to do them all one by one, but the solution works fine - just a shame there's not a one click to validate the size. Anyhow a big thank you for your quick reply and solution ![]() |

If it didn't work then perhaps you could post something in the Quality Check thread. BR |

Hi BetterRed,
I updated Calibre, and the Quality Check->Fix->Check and repair book sizes now picks up the size difference. However it still doesn't show the true size - I've only done a quick test with one book though so I'll try again and post in the Quality Check thread if no joy ![]() |
