Free (Kindle/Kobo/iTunes) The Selection [YA SF Dystopia Fairy Tale Contest w/Romance]

The Selection by Kiera Cass (ISFDB) is the 1st in her eponymous YA science fiction dystopia futuristic fairy tale-based trilogy based around a reality TV competition to win the heart of a prince who's a member of a post-WWIII elite which rules over a numerical caste-based society, free courtesy of publisher HarperCollins.

This is the featured Free Book of the Week in the iTunes UK & Australia stores, and some of the editorial reviews liken it to The Hunger Games, so while this is ostensibly romantic in concept and the author outright states that it's an sfnal remix/maybe-deconstruction of the Cinderella idea, the Gentle Reader should probably not necessarily expect an HEA of the sort they might be used to (and perhaps not any at all).

Currently free, probably just until next Monday @ Amazon UK & AU, iTunes UK, AU, & NZ, & Kobo (available to the UK and likely Oceania as well). Will probably also show up @ B&N UK in another day or two.

Unlikely to make a stop in the middle of the pond or on the Continent, since this exists in a slightly different edition in North America and wasn't free in any of the EU countries I spot-checked in various regional iTunes and Amazon stores.

If you're interested, the author has a number of behind-the-scenes extras on her website, including a few notes about the castes, some deleted scenes, and other goodies.
