Free (nook/Kindle/iTunes/DRM-free) Jack Staples & the Ring of Time [Xtian YA Fantasy]

Jack Staples and the Ring of Time by Mark Batterson & Joel N. Clark is the 1st in their Jack Staples series of tween/YA urban fantasy adventure novels featuring an ordinary boy who gets involved in an epic fight between good and evil, as kids tend to do, free courtesy of Christian publisher David C. Cook.

Apparently this is free to promote the newly-released 2nd in series. DCC books appear to be couponable at Kobo, in case it turns out you like this one enough to try the sequel.

Currently free, probably just for the next day @ B&N (may possibly drop in the UK), Amazon (available to Canadians and in the UK), iTunes (available to Canadians), and also ChristianBook (DRM-Free ePub available to selected countries), and possibly several other stores linked in the publisher's catalogue page.

Description
Eleven-year-old Jack's ordinary life is upended when mysterious creatures attack his hometown and he is whisked into a fantastical adventure filled with danger at every turn.

Jack learns that most live in a shadow of the world, their vision blinded by invisible scales that have covered human eyes since the beginning of time. But the Awakened experience the world as it truly is, where war rages between good and evil—and Jack is at the heart of it. The Awakened are searching for The Child of Prophesy who will both save the world and destroy it. When Jack joins in their epic battle he must learn to trust his friends and face his fears if he is to make his life count.
