I thought we already had a thread for this phone. Any way, the first post will be used as an index to reference key features and discussions.

So, how many of you got one of these devices over Black Friday? and what is your primary use for it - media player, phone, or both?
I got one to use specifically as a media player (primarily audiobooks and music). It'll never be used as a phone. I gotta say, it's an excellent player and has exceeded my expectations. It's fast and fluid. I haven't had any issues with it yet. The speakers are loud and clear enough for audiobooks and music, so I don't need a supplemental speaker. More to follow. |

I got one on BF for audio books. I can't use it as a phone, as I don't get that network here. It is an awesome audio book player. I have listened to a lot from Scribd already. I am using the earbuds I got with my Fire Phone with it. And a belt holster case. I can listen to an entire book in one day and have plenty of battery life left.

How to Play FM Radio on the LG Volt
I enjoy listening to FM radio and do so on a daily basis. So while setting up my Volt, I decided to check out its FM radio, but couldn't find it. The Volt has a built-in FM radio tuner, but it isn't readily apparent. So I googled to see what was going on and found out that you needed to download an app called NextRadio. Quote:
In order to get clear reception, you must have an antenna of some kind. That's accomplished by plugging in headphones, speakers or a headphone extension cord. If you go to the settings, you can direct the sound to go through headphones/speakers or the Volt's built-in speakers. I like to stick the Volt in my shirt pocket and use the built-in speakers with an extension cord plugged into the headphone jack. Whenever I can, I avoid headphones. Note: copied from No-Contract Phones as Audio Players thread, post #36. |

I still haven't bought a case for mine. Any recommendations for a lightweight inexpensive one?

I got mine yesterday. At first I wasn't too happy with it but it's growing on me. I think the speakers are very mono sounding. My Nokia has spoiled me for sound. I plan to use the volt with my Skullcandy headphones I won earlier this year.
I got it set up to handle my remotes. Quick Remote app was a great surprise it works on the Sony TV using IR. Too bad it doesn't do DVD players. I've got the Quick Remote, Fire TV Remote and Roku Remote app on the lock screen. I bought this to replace my SGP4.2 and it does that well. I've got Prime Music, Spotify, Rhapsody, Slacker, Tune In Radio installed. Audible, Smart Audiobook Player, Scribd and Overdrive. I need to get FM Radio set up. Thank Monkey for the heads up. It there a way to disable all the nags I've got it in Airplane mode which helps some. |

I've used Swype forever on my Android devices, installed and chose it as default and haven't had any issues with it.
