Inserting a jpeg into a PM

I'm trying to copy a jpeg photo, 9kb, into a PM and it doesn't happen.

The photo is on my database, and not on the web.

I've tried placing it between the [img][/img] tags but it doesn't work; and also tried to just copy it into the PM, which does work, but then the photo is missing from the PM at the receiving end.

And as it's on my pc I haven't been able to use the Insert Image icon.

Is it possible? (I'm trying to send a Christmas card)

AFAIK, PMs don't support any form of attachment, so I don't think it can be done, unfortunately.

Strange. I've sent images to many members and no one has yet told me that they're not being received. I'm going to send you an image via PM. Let me know if you get it.

Thank you Tom for the pM, and yes I saw those pics.

I've returned the PM with a pic that I pasted in. I was also an addressee and nope the pic doesn't show - just a line or two space where it should be.

Below is the pic that I sent you.

@Terisa I'm glad you've seen this Christmas card because you were one of the people I was going to PM it to. .

You should be able to just embed an image with the [IMG][/IMG] tag.

I've done it before... just so long as the image is available for the other user it should work. I have seen pictures from MR albums which can only be viewed when you are logged in and stuff.

Can you Inspect Element in Firefox/Chrome and see if the HTML of the message contains a reference to the image?

I didn't see that graphic because copying and pasting from the PC doesn't work. As Harry said, there's no attachment feature in PMs. What I did was to take pictures that were on the web and wrap them in [IMG] tags via the Insert Image icon

. If you have your own website where you can host photos, you can use them in PMs via this method.

True. If you have an image in one of your MobileRead albums, just copy the location of that image and add the [IMG] tags.

I prefer copy.com or dropbox, for general embedding of images.

I've now got an MR album and after uploading pics into that I can successfully insert them into my PM's.
