Graphics losing quality
I convert from ePub to mobi (both) in Calibre, and each time the resulting file has its icons/graphics dropped in quality.
For example, I recently converted a For Dummies book, and the little graphical icons next to some sections/boxouts have a noticeable drop in quality from the ePub - much more "pixelly"/lower resolution. I've checked my settings in Calibre and I've set things like "Disable image compression" to "On". Thanks |

What do you have set as the output profile? Set it to 'tablet' if you do not want graphics to be resized during conversions to match the target device.

I have it set to Paperwhite, as I own a Paperwhite 2.

Ok, I set it to "Tablet" and the images are still downscaled/pixelated in the resulting KF8 file.

The MOBI format has various limitations on the image filetypes it supports. There are both size and format limitations. You should use AZW3.

If you create a dual-MOBI, you can reportedly email that to Amazon now. They will chop the dual-MOBI into MOBI and AZW3 sections, and send the appropriate one to your device, just like Kindle Store books that are uploaded as dual-MOBI.
BUT, the cover will not be downloaded for use in Cover View. |

Yes, that's what I do now (and use the ExtractCoverThumbs tool from this site to fix the covers), but the dual format mobi still exhibits this poor graphics quality problem
