How long does Chapters really take to ship?

Hi,
I treated myself to an Aura H2O. After my shipping frustrations with Kobo directly last year I went through Chapters/Indigo in up north. Did the order on the Dec 1 est arrival date Dec 25, I get that it's the holidays but delivery around Christmas? Do they just over estimate the time and ship earlier? I admit I am in the US, but I live in the Chicago area not the sticks. I also admit I am eager for my new toy. Thanks

Those shipping estimates are always inaccurate. Seems they state that timeframe as worse case scenario. Based on the posts here, the H20 ships the same day you place the order. Assuming it's early enough in the day. Delivery is always within a week it seems. Email them and request the tracking information.

I ordered mine on Nov 21 and received it on the 26th. I live in rural Oregon.

3-5 days seems to be what most people here are reporting.

They ship 'signature required', though, so be aware of that.

Canada Post delivery times are varied enough that they have to cover themselves. I got a bad review on ebay once due to Canada Post's lengthy delays (I had shipped the day I receive payment). This made me understand that consumers hold the seller, not the postal service, accountable for delays in arrival, so I expect that is why they are conservative.

Amazon and Chapters both tend to exceed their promised dates by a week where I live.

I line in the Eastern US and I ordered my H2O on November 27, 2014 at 1:18:28 AM and it arrived here on November 30, 2014 at about 8:30am.

Tracking the package showed that it had a delivery date of December 2nd, 2014.

I ordered mine late on a Thursday night and it arrived in AZ the following Monday. Pretty impressive service in my book. But I had to wait until the next day to pick it up at the Post Office since I wasn't home to sign for it.

What surprised me was that it was delivered via USPS on Sunday morning. I never expected that at all. I expected it to go from the depot it was at on Saturday to the local post office on Monday and be delivered on Tuesday. Instead it arrived in about 3 days.

Mine took exactly 7 days from Canada to Sydney, Australia. Their estimated delivery date was in January 2015!

I gave up and called Chapters this afternoon. Customer support was perplexed why it had yet to ship since it should have left Canada yesterday. They have an inquiry going on. They did admit to me that for some unknown reason IT was doing a system update and I appeared to be impacted by it. Which sounds about right for me being an infrastructure geek. I am hopping it will ship over the weekend and I will get it by next Friday. I am eagerly awaiting the new toy. I have to say I truly appreciate customer support it was a breath of fresh air after Kobo. I will be very happy if it shows up before Hanukah starts. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck. Because I payed via PayPal, I did not automatically get a tracking number. Using PayPal, the system thinks I'm a guest placing the order even though I registered for an account. I did submit a request for the tracking number and I received it later that day. The tracking number was good for both the Canadian Post and the US Post. The only thing I found was the estimate given by the Canadian Post was off. It arrived soon than was said.

I think that international shipping estimates will always be off because they have to allow for your package to pass through customs. Sometimes this takes no time at all, sometimes a package might be routed through a more rigorous inspection.

And sometimes it just sits in Customs for no apparent reason.

Called Chapters Thursday found out according to the records it should have shipped Wednesday. It ended up shipping Friday, spun around New York for 36 hrs. I was all set for Wednesday delivery. Then it showed up Tuesday (luckily someone was home). I absolutely love the H2O. I did however manage to get one with a bad pixel sitting in the middle of the screen.
