Free (nook/Kindle/iTunes/DRM-free) Depression: Looking Up… [Xtian Mental Health Help]
Depression: Looking Up from the Stubborn Darkness by Edward T. Welch is an updated and expanded version of his earlier advice guide looking into and understanding the root causes of depression, while trying to alleviate it with the help of a mixed approach of practical methods as well as faith, free courtesy of Christian publisher David C. Cook's New Growth Press imprint.
I had a quick look inside this, and it seems that while this does make a number of faith mentions and biblical references, mostly for comparative "people since forever have experienced these issues that you're going through, too" purposes, it's on the lighter side of "inspirational" self-help books, and more secular readers may possibly be able to make use of some of the non-faith-based tips. Currently free, probably just for the next day @ B&N (may also drop in the UK after a day or so), Amazon (available to Canadians and in the UK), iTunes & Google Play (both available to Canadians), and also ChristianBook (DRM-Free ePub available to selected countries) & BookShout (available for online reading & app download), and possibly several other stores linked in the publisher's catalogue page. Description Looking away from despair towards hope can feel risky. What if God doesn't come through for you? What if you don't feel instantly better? Instead of offering simple platitudes or unrealistic "cure-all" formulas, Edward T. Welch addresses the complex nature of depression with compassion and insight, applying the rich treasures of the gospel, and giving fresh hope to those who struggle. Originally published as Depression: A Stubborn Darkness—Light for the Path, this new edition is updated with added content. |

Now a repeat freebie in almost all the original stores (minus BookShout, but might drop again later).
