Synch with Android errors

Having used Calibre for 2+years and recommended elsewhere this last month has been impossible - just does not synch with my Android device:
Cannot write to file: hr=2147944029 facility=7 error_code=1629 description: Data supplied is of wrong type.

Have tried:
reboot (both systems) how many times can you reboot?????
restore to when was wrking - on restore does not.
new drivers
Remove and reinstall software

Am afraid no longer an advocate, there is an issue that needs to be addressed. Will not be using Calibre, just file copy from now on and good "old" personal directory filing.
