Hey!
![]() What can you recommend for Christmas holiday reading? For example, I have just read a fiction novel The Journey of Rosalie by Audrey Glanville and it took me 3 days to finish it all. It was like 1 minute, so exciting and adventurous it was. I would be glad to hear your comments and feedback! Thank you! ![]() |

Depends on what sort of book you are interested in. I am in the later parts of a series called Scrapyard Ships, which is about an alien race, the craing, going to invade and take over earth unless a US Navy captian can bring together his crew and a mysterious space ship that has been dicovered under ground and save the planet.

You can't go wrong with a classic like "A Christmas Carol." Dickens tale still entertains more than a century and a half after he penned it.

The Stupidest Angel, A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror by Christopher Moore
It has returning characters from several earlier books but I read this one first with no problems. Wishin' and Hopin' Wally Lamb does a short but amusing Christmas novel Terry Pratchett's Hogfather A Discworld "Christmas" All Seated On the Ground by Connie Willis Willis' award-winning SF Christmas short story. |

The Christmas Train by David Baldacci. I rated it only 3/5 but now that I look back I think it's one of the best Christmas themed books I've read.

For classics, "A Christmas Carol" really can't be beat. Marvelous writing there.
For family fun, you might try "A Stranger for Christmas" by Carol Lynn Pearson or "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" by Barbara Robinson. If you like science fiction and are familiar with Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series, there's an enjoyable short called "Winterfair Gifts" which is appropriate to the season. |

I like Tidings Of Comfort And Joy by T. Davis Bunn.
Also One Shenandoah Winter by the same author. Last edited by Phogg; 12-04-2014 at 12:45 PM. |

I've recommended Chip Crockett's Christmas Carol before. It's a bit heavy on the sentimentality, and probably means more to me because I was a big fan of Sandy Becker, but it's a good, quick, Christmas read. It has a pretty good rating at Goodreads.

There is also Gift of the Magi by O.Henry. It's a short story, but it does revolve around Christmas.

I have watched a lot of movies and adaptations of "A Christmas Carol" but I have never read the book. This hasn't been recommended to me either, but I plan on having a Classic-reading spree so since it's that time of the year I may as well start with this book. Then Jane Austen's Persuasion. Yes.

I picked up a bunch of Christmas-themed freebies a couple of weeks ago. I figure I'll read a couple of them just to "get in the mood". ATDrake posted an update in an old thread to let folks know that The Christmas Dog by Melody Carlson is free for a day or two. I picked that one up in 2012 and really enjoyed it. You might consider grabbing it if the blurb appeals to you. Most of my holidays will be spent reading "just for fun". I'll be reading whatever I really want to read, including Shadow of Freedom by David Weber. |
