Kindle Fire vs. New Nook Tablet
I want a small and inexpensive (ie not an ipad mini) tablet I can read Scribd books on, and also use both the Nook and Kindle apps on. I think I can do those on both? If so, I'd like to pick up a Black Friday deal on one or the other. I just can't decide which.

You CAN use Scribd on both the Nook tablets by Samsung/BN and the Fire HD tablets by Amazon. For the Nook tablets it is available via the Google Play store. For the Fire HD tablets you have to download the APK file from Scribd (don't get it from somewhere else), enable installing from unknown sources, and then simply installing the APK.

Unfortunately, you CAN'T get the horrible Nook app on the Fire HD tablets through the Amazon App Store or directly from Barnes. You have to side-load it by acquiring the APK package from Good e-Reader or 1mobile or some other "alternative" app repository.

Yeah the Kindle Fire sounds good and is cheapest. I'll just have to figure out how to get the nook app and Scribd on it. It doesn't sound horribly complicated, but I'm no techie.

You should've be able to install the 1Mobild Market AppStore via the HDs Silk browser. I did on mine and loaded the Kobo app. I'll check later when I get home if the Nook app is their to.

Nicky, I just checked the 1Mobile Market store and the Nook app is in their, it downloaded to my HD6 fine and opened okay so you should be able to get it on your fire using that App Store. I've got a few apps from their that are not on the Amazon App Store, Kobo and Dropbox are two of them
