Which Kobo to buy?
Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy an e-reader for the first time. I think a Kobo would be ideal for me since I live in Europe and I want to read both English and non-English books so I don't want to be tied to one store, and I've heard a lot of good things about Kobo except that its store lags behind the competition (which wouldn't be an issue for me). The question now is which Kobo to buy. Preferably I'd like the most recently released device. I read on this forum the Glo is already a few years old, so that leaves the Aura, Aura HD and H2O. These are the prices I can buy them for: Aura - €99 ($123) Aura HD - €149 ($185) Aura H2O - €179 ($223) Right now I'm leaning towards the Aura mainly due to price, since I don't think the Aura HD is worth the extra €50, but I wanted to get some input before I make my decision. Thanks! |

Both the HD and the H2O have better screens than the Aura.
I would only get the Aura if I wanted something very small, light, and less expensive. Otherwise, I would definitely choose the Aura H2O. |

I do find the price difference quite steep between the Aura and the H2O ($100 for me). As a more 'casual' reader, and if I don't need the very best screen technology, while taking price into account, would you recommend the Aura in my case?

Sure, the Aura is an awesome reader. Small and thin. It is excellent. (Only when I compare it side by side to my Glo or my Aura HD, do I noticed that it is not as sharp). For price and portability, it's perfect. I never take my larger HD out of the house, as I wouldn't want to damage it. Eink screens are fragile, and even though it's in a case, I feel the size of it makes it more fragile.
I absolutely LOVE the size of the Aura. |

Wow. €30 difference between the Aura HD and the H2O? That's pretty crazy.
I agree with booklover6. If you're on a budget there's absolutely nothing wrong with the Aura. |
