formatting question when line overflows

Here is the code and the css.
This is a kids books. As you can see, I currently have 3% indent on <s1> just to move things over a bit. If someone decides to view with larger font because it is a kids book, some sentences will flow onto the next line. I want that overflow to indent a bit extra so it is easy for a young reader to see that it is a continuation of the line above. With my current set-up of code and css, what is the easiest way to do it? I realize the CSS is absurd, but that is what Pages spit out for me to use.

There are so many things wrong with your code... ugh.

First of all, start with the CSS, erase all styles and start putting them back one by one, from most essential until you get the desired result, then ditch the rest.
For any kind of unit, don't use more than 1 digit after the decimal point, meaning 0.0 is ok, 0.00 is not.
Then again, there is absolutely no need for that level of precision so I would about using the decimal point.

Now the HTML:
Don't put an image inside of a heading tag

I have seen the (IMHO very ugly) practice of a huge, monolith of a file where ther is only 1 <body>, hence styling that doesn't not always produce the results for the 'bodies' (aka a Chapter) of the text.

They are faking a 'body' tag
File per chapter/Section eliminates the need to fake it

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you're asking how to do a reverse, or hanging, indent. In .s1, set margin-left to be 3 percent and text-indent to -3 percent. The text-indent only applies to the first line of a displayed paragraph and it's OK to use negative values. It's a little different way of looking at the problem. Instead of adding extra indentation to long lines, establish that indentation as the default and adjust the first line. If it's short enough, you'll not see any special effect.

what part of the css don't you guys like? Does it just contain too much information? Should all of the "0" quantities not be there?
someone please take the example above for "s1" and simplify it as you think it should look.

.s1 is being deleted and replaced with p. The p you already have now becomes...

My preferred <p> style is similar to yours. I only did it the way I did for this particular instance.

The problem is that not all renderers allow you to set the justification externally. On a Kindle if there is no justification specified, it uses left justification. So yes, you should be specifying full justification otherwise, you could end up with a justification you don't want and no way to change it.
