Once I drag the column widths to what I want, they always remain as I set them even between restarts and upgrades of Calibre. Are you saying your columns keep changing?

@Nyssa - you can save column widths in the View Manager plugin, when you reapply the view it will use the widths you saved

I tend to use the "Auto fit" option after importing multiple books, and then I have to manually adjust a few of my columns that tend to give themselves more room than necessary. My hope is to avoid having to do that in the future. Quote:
Much appreciated. |

I restarted Calibre but the columns were still off; so then I chose the view I had when I originally set the widths, but that did not reset them to my "Preset" either. What am I missing? |

Remember there are two main displays; one with the device attached, one without the device attached.

So, assume I select a view I just created called "Plain View", I adjust column widths to what suits me and select [I]View-Manager->Save column widths[/U]. Then at some future time I change one or more column widths - presumably to see something that's hidden - to get back to the saved widths I would refresh by selecting View-Manager->Plain View The same applies to column position, if I drag columns around - usually for the convenience of editing metadata - then when I'm done I would refresh by selecting View-Manager->Plain View 'Twould be good if the PI had a refresh current view action ![]() I just did a test with Connect to my Pseudo Device folder active, the above process seemed to work. Maybe someone could do a test with a real device connected - Terisa de Morgan uses the PI. Added - of course, you do need to have a View you can refresh - I think it creates a default View automagically based on... hmmm good question... which I probably tweaked. But it seems to works on the default view for me. BR Last edited by BetterRed; 11-19-2014 at 03:30 PM. Reason: add Added |

None of them are "true" defaults, as in I do not have it set to use a specific view when I open calibre - I chose one manually. |

Added 1 :Yep, its not happening in 2.9, but it happens in 2.10 with libraries and config from last Thursday - so it's unlikely to be related to the Connect to Pseudo Device folder. Added 2 : I've convinced myself the APPCRASHing is nowt to do with View Manager BR Last edited by BetterRed; 11-19-2014 at 09:21 PM. |

@Nyssa - right now I don't think I can do anything more to help you. Maybe you should see what happens with version 2.9.
I repeated the tests I described in post #8 with version 2.9 on 3 different libraries each with a different set of 3-5 views - and they all restored their widths. Two of the libraries have a specific start up View, the other one has Last View used. But they do all have the Automatically apply view... setting checked. Maybe that's the missing link (although I don't see why it should be so), try setting a startup View. - Once I discovered View Manager I forewent the default behaviour (I'm no longer sure what it is) BTW View Manager lives in peace and harmony with the startup VL feature ![]() BR Last edited by BetterRed; 11-19-2014 at 06:57 PM. |
