Calibre stopped recognizing my Kindle

I have a Kindle Paperwhite which is my third Kindle. I have used Calibre for five years and love it. But today after sending four books to my Kindle and having them show as being on my Kindle I ejected my Kindle but couldn't find the books. I connected my Kindle again but this time couldn't get Calibre to recognize it. Finally stopped using a hub and connected directly to my Mac. Got Calibre to acknowledge my Kindle but it still showed that I had loaded the books from Calibre to my Kindle even though I know they aren't there. I tried loading one again and still no show. I have never had any problems with Calibre before and the thought of it no longer working for my Kindle....I can't fathom it. Does anyone have a suggestion of what might be wrong?

Try double-clicking the books on the Kindle from Finder -- see if the books are indeed there and readable.

If so, it is definitely not a calibre problem.

Are only certain books refusing to show up? Can calibre send more books, and do they show up alright?

It sounds like your Kindle is failing. Things I would try:

1) A different USB cable/port
2) A hard reset of the Kindle or just reformat the kindle

Thanks! I can read them from Calibre but just heard that someone else had trouble loading them so it must be a problem with the book. I have six by the same author and they won't load. Other books will.
