On/off brightness function on H2O?

Stupid question I know, but I've spent 30 minutes on the web trawling for information. Seems like it can be controlled by using a finger on the left-hand panel. However I am unable to adjust the light nor to turn it on/off? Could anyone link me to a thread or video or provide an answer to my question? Thanks |

When you are reading a book, tap the top of the screen which will bring up the tool bar tap the sunshine symbol which will bring up a brightness box , slide the circle to the level required. (The upper toolbar is visible when you are on the home screen) (If you need to alter the font size etc look at the tool bar at the bottom of the screen) To return to your book, close the brightness box and tap the middle of the screen Hope that helps |

The mistake I made was to swipe from the very bottom or top of the screen - nothing happened. TO INCREASE BRIGHTNESS Start in the left margin - just above the bottom margin. TO DECREASE BRIGHTNESS Start in the left margin - just below the top margin. I still find it a little hit and miss.

With current f/w levels just place your finger on the very left of the screen (right next to the bezel) and slide yournfingernup and down.

I love this light adjustment option. Best thing Kobo ever did.

If I'm right handed and this forces me to use my left hand to change screen brightness. I can not see how this is worse for left handers. |

It works equally well using either your right or left hand, there's no difference. The main part is making sure your finger also touches the bezel and the glass. If you're even 1/4" away from the bezel, it doesn't work.

You can hold the ereader in your left hand (my normal procedure) and use one of your right fingers to slide up/down the left edge of the screen. I find it easier to jam my right finger against the bezel than using a finger on my left hand. As usual, YMMV.

One other comment that may help with consistency: I've found one of the keys is not to hesitate when you put your finger down to swipe (hesitating tends to cause it to start selecting text) and you really do have to be right against the left edge.
