Alphabetic order for authors list?

How I can get authors list in alphabetic order? Must be in Tweaks, I guess.

[GUI Plugin] Quality Check

See the option Fix ==> Swap Author FN LN <--> LN, FN

You can bulk switch all authors to use the proper author format.

Currently your authors (according to the image you posted) are in LN, FN format in the authors field. Authors expects to see FN LN, and sorts using author_sort which calculates LN, FN from the authors field. Once your metadata is fixed, it will display properly.

In the meantime (no one ask how) the author field I changed in alphabetical order (status quo, in wrong format LN, FN), see 'Calibre Library'.

(Tweaks) author_sort_copy_method = 'NoComma' would have following result, see 'Autoren verwalten'. By clicking on the yellow marking all entries from the author_sort field would get copied to author field - in correct format FN LN.

(Tweaks) The info (mix German/English) is as follows: (because of line formatting difficult to read, contains spelling errors - maybe also semantic ones, by the way).

Dieser Algoritmus wird verwendet, um author (Autor) zu author_sort (Autorensortierung) zu kopieren.
Mögliche Werte sind:
invert: use "fn ln" -> "ln, fn" (ln=Nachname, fn=Vorname)
copy : Kopiert author zu author_sort ohne Veränderung
comma : verwenden Sie 'copy' wenn ein ',' in dem Namen ist, ansonsten verwenden Sie 'invert'
nocomma : "fn ln" -> "ln fn" (ohne das Komma)
Wenn dieser Tweak verändert wird, muss der the author_sort Wert, der mit jedem Autor gespeichert wird

Das bedeutet, dass die Sortierung nach einer Zeichenfolge wie

Simply select all books that need to be switched, and then use the Quality Check option. It works on all currently-selected books.

The description of the ^tweak^ does not matter, what does matter is what is written in the bottom box. For example (mine):

Don't think I didn't search by myself. Even the calibre User Manual isn't useful for that kind of search, I mean Keywords Search.

Let's say it this way: it is the (to me) relatively new layout of mobileread, which caused an irritation. Simply, your link has been overlooked, eschwartz.

It took some time to bring 79 authors in order (about 2 minutes). .

Yep, just making sure you didn't overlook the link. (I am often more terse than I'd like, when I am mobile. Also, no pictures then -- but I do have a library of pictures I have built up, pointing to various options. I agree, it can often be easier to relay an idea.)

I do wish I could figure out a way to handle the Saint or St. names that didn't leave them always showing up as needing correction. It would be a wishlist item I guess to have a way to indicate the names manually modified in author sort that should be ignored in library checks. At present I admit to being lazy and leaving de la Cruz as Cruz and John St. James as James, John St.

While incorrect and something I need to keep in mind when looking for the authors this happens with, it is easier when doing library checks and cleaning things up.

Change the author sort using the tag browser manage authors. Once you do that then the author sorts in edit metadata will show as correct if they match what you put in manage authors.
