Calibre cannot detect my device

Wasn't able to connect my Kindle Fire using the welcome wizard. Tried using the steps in the troubleshoot thread-- this was the message when I ran the debug device detection:

*I also tried emailing the book to my kindle email address, but was unsuccessful too.

That says that Windows cannot see your device either. calibre cannot do anyhing if the computer cannot see te device.
