Ipad Mini 2 can't connect to Marvin via OPDS
I'm using an iPad Mini 2 with i0S 8.1, Mac Mavericks, and Calibre v.1.48 with the newest version of Marvin. My firewall is off.
I can connect fine to Project Gutenberg, so my wifi seems to be working, and the Calibre server appears to be running, but when I try to connect get books in Marvin via OPDS, I get the error message "Cannot download feed. The service might not be available to you or you are not connected to the Internet." I used to be able to connect with my larger iPad, which is still running iOS 7, but now that won't work either. Any ideas as to what might be wrong? Thanks! |

Can you connect to the server in your iPad browser?
Your router may be set up with a guest network, or it may block devices from talking to each other. |

No, I can't connect in the iPad browser either. Also, when I check wifi settings for the iPad, the IP address is one digit off from the IP address my Mac shows in settings.
Is it better to have the iPad "forget" the network and try setting up wifi again, hoping it will pick a number that matches the Mac? Or is there another fix? Thank you! |

Sounds like there is indeed some form of mismatch. Forgetting and reconnecting wouldn't help, it is a router setting. Every router is different. You will need to check yours to see if there is a guest network, or to see if it disables device-to-device communication. I don't know the details. Perhaps chaley could help. He dealt with this a couple times, in the Calibre Companion forums. |

Also, maybe PM a moderator and have this moved to the Calibre ==> Devices forum, since this is no longer Marvin-specific.

I had the same issue. The solution is to delete your Mac's OPDS profile in Marvin and create a new one, according to these instructions: http://blog.marvinapp.com/post/49081628921
Note that when you enter your Mac's "IP address", that's not your web IP, it's your WIFI IP. Go to "About This Mac", choose "System Report", click "Network", and take the number to the extreme write on the "Wi-fi" row (e.g. 192.168.x.x) Last edited by Jimmbo; 02-04-2016 at 01:28 PM. |
