No Greatness without Goodness: How a Father's Love Changed a Company and Sparked a Movement by Randy Lewis, Senior Vice President of the Walgreens US store chain, is the author's memoir of how his personal experience with his autistic son inspired him to create better working conditions and job opportunities in his business for employees with disabilities, free courtesy of Christian publisher Tyndale House.
I had a quick skim and this is not particularly "faith-based" in tone, and has front-of-the-book praise from such persons as autistic professor and inventor Temple Grandin (Wikipedia), so secular persons interested in the issues of coping with autism in one's family and/or incorporating disability-sensitive policies in the workplace will likely find this to be a useful read. Currently free @ B&N (also in the UK), Amazon (available to Canadians; does not appear to exist in a UK store version), Kobo & iTunes (both available to Canadians), and Christian Book (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide). Description Randy Lewis bet his career that he could create an inclusive workplace at one of America’s biggest corporations where people with disabilities could not just succeed, but thrive. No Greatness without Goodness is the powerful story of a corporate executive who, after watching the world through the eyes of his own child with autism, Austin, realized that we all have a greater responsibility to make the world a better place for everyone, including those with disabilities. As the Senior Vice President of Walgreens, Randy Lewis has created thousands of full-time jobs for people with disabilities. No Greatness without Goodness offers a firsthand account of what it takes to lead with courage in order to change people’s lives for the better. Randy’s motto is “What’s the use of having power if you don’t use it to do good.” In this book, you’ll learn how to start working for good no matter where you are or how much power you hold. |
