Editing ebooks (epub) to correct or change formatting

Hi all,

I have a number of epub ebooks which exhibit formatting problems. The one I am currently trying to read has ALL of the text underlined, which is really irritating. I have others which I want to reformat a bit, mainly to adjust the way the book flows on a reader and to allow the device to override book settings on fonts, spacing, line breaks, etc.

Is there a suitable web-based tutorial which runs through the basics of ebook formatting and some of the more specific issues for particular devices?

The easiest tool to use is, IMHO, Calibre's editor (just right click on the book in Calibre and select "Edit Book" from the pop-up menu). Sigil is another popular, and free, tool. Both have support forums here at MR.

Ok, thanks Harry, I wasn't sure which forum to use!

I shall have a read this evening but does the Calibre tool allow global search-and-replace operations?
