H2O Screen Locks Up After Sleeping
Is this a known issue?
Have I missed this being discussed in another thread? Aura H20: Firmware version: 3.7.0 and now 3.8.0 If the device goes into sleep mode either on it's own or user initiated, when it is woken up, the device is frozen and accepts no input. Device has to be powered down and then back up for everything to start working again. Note: if you put the device into sleep mode and power back up right away, it's fine, but if it's down for any length of time, when you awaken the device the screen is frozen. How long it must be asleep before the device stops accepting input has not been determined yet precisely but it's not that long; fairly short time. This is repeatable and it happens every time. I have never been able to break out of it once the device is not responding without powering it off. Anyone else experienced this issue? Regards, Bruce. |

I've been complaining about my Kobo Touch randomly locking up while I'm reading ever since I did a FW 3.8 update. Then after a few minutes it unlocks and completes the string of instructions I've given it while it was frozen and is fine until the next lock-up, which can be 2 pages later or 10 pages later.
No one else in this forums seems to have had this experience, but I've read about similar lock-ups on other forums. Kobo Customer care say do a Factory Reset .... yada yada yada .... To date I haven't seen any solutions. I'm waiting for FW 3.11 to see if that solves the problem. If not, I'll try going back to an older version (FW 3.3.1) |

Thanks. I have zero issues while using the device, never freezes or locks up, either with 3.7.0 or 3.8.0 firmware, just the issue when it sleeps and I wake the device.
I sent a message to Kobo but have not heard from them yet. Not even an acknowledgment of an open case. I guess the support they offer really does stink! Quote:

Have you tried a factory reset yet? Does this happen with different books open when it goes to sleep or can you pin it down to a specific book? Haven't seen any other reports of this freeze either.

Did not do the factory reset yet but this has happened right from the get go.
Also, have not paid close attention to it to see if it's just that one book but I will work on that now. thanks. |

I've had it freeze during sleep twice now, with two different side-loaded books and only after updating to 3.11.

Any patches applied? Is there an SD card in the slot?

No patches. No SD card. I used it a couple of days with its original 3.7 firmware with no problems. Not sure what it could be.

Okay, opened another book and let the device sleep on it's own. After I woke the device up 1.5 hours later, no issues.
You may be right with this one @robko. I'll be testing more books to see what happens but if it happens again with another book, just may be the book again. It's good to know it may not be the device... thanks! |

Not sure if you were responding to @luvhilndr but for me:
I have no SD card installed. I do have patch_kobo_38 applied but I was having the issue before the patch while on 3.7.0 fw and while 3.8.0 fw and patch were applied. I tried @robko's suggestion and I am testing different books and so far, has not happened on a different book. |

I have this problem as well. Not after sleep though. Just while reading, sometimes the screen does not respond anymore. Sometimes just pressing the sleep button twice will work, sometimes it won't (and I need to use a paperclip in the reset button).
I've tried this so far: - Turn of water drop detection - Turn of auto-wake - Use the e-reader outside my case with wake-up function - basic reset - factory reset - side loaded epub - kepub It does not change for me. I keep getting this problem. I e-mailed with Kobo about this problem (dutch support) and they told me to reset. When that didn't work they suggested I return it to the store where I got it. The store is going to replace my e-reader now. I've sent mine away today and hope to get the new one saturday or monday. |
