Ended buying a Voyage during lunch time.
I ended buying it from Best Buy. Bought it at lunch. Configured in few minutes and started using it right away. And like it so far.
I initially said that spending 200 bucks or more, if you already have a Kindle PW2 is a waste of money, and to certain degree, it is. Not gonna take pictures, as they won't easily do justice, but there is a significant difference in contrast between the Voyage and the PW2; the fonts are way more crisp. Also, the black is more black and the white is more white. I know is sounds like a commercial, but it is true. I'm sure this will be important for some with vision problems. I do have mild astigmatism and myopia and I can notice the difference. It is comfortable on my hands but somehow, I find the base of my right thumb touching the lower right corner of the screen , where the page progression is, and it keeps displaying that. I think is because its smaller size? Not sure. The PW2 is a bit easier to hold, because bigger bezels. I may have to relearn how to hold this new Kindle, I like where the power button is. Seems to be more natural to me. Regarding the new page turn buttons, I turned it off for now. Now I'm more used to swipe with my fingers. But the medium sensitivity seems to be good enough to avoid accidental page turns, but I haven't use it too much to confirm or deny that. In my opinion, this is how the PW should be. It is a small improvement but compared to what we have 2 or 3 years ago, looks amazing. The fonts don't look blurred anymore and the light is evenly distributed. Still too expensive though, so I'm afraid that at this price point, the Eink Kindle will be a dinosaur that it's about to hibernate due a meteorite that will hit the earth; tablets are taking over, and at 200 bucks, you must love reading on an eink device in order to spend such amount of money and justice the purchase. Hopefully I'm wrong but eink devices and users seem to be more and more isolated each year. I may post again tonight or tomorrow, after work and playing a bit with it. Yep the Voyage has warts, like page turn buttons that are not that good. But I do like the higher contrast and sharper text. My screen is a bit too blue at the bottom and too shadowy at the top, but I think I can live with it since the text seems greatly improved.

Ended buying a Voyage during lunch time.
Used it more tonight.
The auto brightness feature simply doesn't work for me. It tends to set it too low at least for my personal preference. I changed it to manual. |

That seems to be a very common complaint. They probably need to adjust the FW to react better with the sensor. I haven't tried it yet as none of my tablets or phones or laptops with that auto dim feature work well with it, so I keep it turned off.

I figured it out ...
The reason why I feel a bit uncomfortable with the Voyage is because the screen is "flushed" or one sole unit or surface with bezels. So when my thumb touches the bezel, is also touching the screen a bit. Before, that never happen, as that part of my thumb was "suspended" a bit, because the screen was fractions of inches lower. Hmmm... |

Strange to read about blurry fonts on the KPW1 and 2. Mine is perfect, and with a -8 diopter, which enables (lol) me to read from 3 inch away if i want , I would have noticed blurry fonts without fail.
I hesitate to upgrade, as my KPW is just about perfect. |

The PW1 and PW2, compared to the Voyage, the fonts look "washed out" , not deep black? As a matter of fact, my defunct Kindle Touch (no back lit) is way sharper than my PW1. But going back to topic. On the Voyage, the white part of the screen looks now much more white, which enhances the reading experience; it creates more contrast, so it is easier to read. And like Jack said, the experience is now more tablet alike, at least when touching and feeling the eink surface. |

It's like when HD TVs came out a few years ago. You don't really notice the quality of standard def until you've watched high def for awhile. |

I would like to see that. But I've been hearing that since 2011. This is not impossible but very complex and expensive. I'm not sure this can be sold at reasonable price. Talking about now and today, eink market is just not as profitable as tablets. That's a fact. |
