it seems, but correct me please if wrong, that I can set up different default folders for epub and azw, and that i can download a single format OK by connecting, selecting the book, then selecting the metadata, then downloading each format separately. CC then shows the book twice ( once per format)
but if I connect, select book, long press to download, then both formats get placed in the same folder, and CC shows only one book entry. in my test, both formats went to my epub folder ( maybe because that was 1st on list) & nothing went to kindle books folder, all of this is via connect to content server. is that latter behavior ( both formats placed in same tablet folder) by design? I would have expected the long press download to send each format to the appropriate folder as defined in settings ? PS Chaley: in a different thread (back in July) you say it's not possible to download multiple formats via content server, but my test seems to show a different outcome? unless I was not careful enough with removing books/formats between successive tests ? I am 99% sure that with current ( amazon store) CC release, if I use content server & choose a book which i have in 2 formats, and have both of those formats ticked in CC settings, then both formats do get downloaded on a "long press to download" Last edited by cybmole; 10-18-2014 at 11:59 AM. |

To test this, I deleted both formats for a book off my device (.mobi and .epub). I then went to the content server and found that book, then looked at book details. I saw both formats available for download. I closed book details and long-pressed on the book. When the download was finished I looked at book details again and saw that CC thought the .epub was on my device. I used a file manager and saw that there were no .mobi files in the epub's folder and no .mobi files in /kindle. Finally, I went to book details and asked CC to download the .mobi. It appeared in /kindle. Regarding your edit: it is possible to download multiple formats, but not with the long-press. |

OK - let me repeat the test...
..I am getting your expected result now, I must have left something in place from an earlier test - I was previously testing some stuff via other routes also, using the same test books - poor test protocol. as for downloading 2 or more formats at once from content server, could it be done if you made a decision to so program, or is there some more fundamental technical limitation ? it is not a feature I particularity want or need, ( except when I'm messing about comparing formats & readers) but ideally we'd have a (global) preference toggle for : download all available formats VS download highest priority format only. |
