Tags - are there invisible ones

Greetings,

Is there such a thing as invisible tags? Or...a way of tagging things that remain hidden, but can be searched?

I've just spent a huge effort to delete all extra tags and reduced them down to just plain genre tags. But I'd like to be able to add sub-genre?? tags in a way that they remain hidden (don't want them to show in the book view). I tried a custom column thinking this was the way to do it, but in the tags browser they come out rather ugly and the sort order is weird - example

"Timothy Zhan, Star Wars" comes out as Wars, Timothy Zhan, Star

I am always surprised at the myriad ways people here do things - and the awesome abilities of calibre - but trying to get my head around it is often tricky Thx

@Chris_Snow - Does the attachment help ?

Also what type is your custom column - looks like it's a name - hence the placement of last token to the first

@BetterRed..

I was trying to kill two birds with one stone (another thread about 2nd Author). I thinnk I'll have to do them as separate columns and remove the name from this one. I deselected the name box in the C. column and the sort side of it is better. Trouble is, everytime I add a tag in this column, it will show in the tag browser as a great big long entry. Can the TB separate them into single entries. For eg.

"Star Wars, Darth Vader" (C. Coulmn)

becomes in the TB as separate items
"Star Wars"
"Darth Vader"

Not...

Star Wars, Darth Vader

??

Thx

I think I sorted it out. I'll give it some time as I use it everyday - see what happens. Much appreciated.
